"There
are very few eponymous underground cult classic, Mancunian albums.
But in the time frame of 1976-2005 Tsuji Giri have created one"
manchestermusic.co.uk
After too long
waiting to be in the right place at the right time we Giri decided
to take our destinies into our own hands and make our filthy dreams
a reality. We needed to record an album. It writhed away under
our skins howling to be let out and nothing would satisfy us until
it was done. So we've done it in the best possible way: by recording
it at Steve Albini's studio in Chicago with the man himself at
the helm.
Cash-raising
strategies were put into play and a mixture of hard graft, blagging,
begging and theft brought us to the position where we could hire
8 days recording time. We lived in the studio, made a record,
and then let ourselves loose in Chicago for a few days.
The album was
released in Manchester and on the web by Munkfaust
Records on March 7th 2005. It will be released nationally
on August 15th but is available in the meantime via mail-order
on the Munkfaust website and in selected
independent record shops in Manchester. It will be stocked in
similar outlets nationwide from the national release date. To
find a list of all retailers where you can get a copy here.
To see evidence of the improbable
reality of all this and to see the kind of fun we had in the making
of our glorious debut, have a good gawp at our Chicago
Scrapbook.
